Who we are
ABOUT EMULVENT emulvent® is a startup founded in 2026 in Haiger (Hesse) by Björn Moos and Thilo Schäfer. We develop solutions for more resource-efficient and stable industrial production in machining, optics, and diamond grinding technology. THE PROBLEM In most machining companies, cutting fluid (CF) is considered a pure consumable: It is filled in, used, and eventually smells or spoils, at which point it is replaced – often unplanned, in the middle of operations. This costs not only concentrate, water, and disposal fees, but also machine downtime and personnel time for "firefighting" at the tank. At the same time, aerosol exposure due to unstable CF is a documented health risk for employees at the machine (skin irritations, respiratory problems – according to AUVA, the most common work-related illness in CF handling). According to the VDI Resource Efficiency Center, CF accounts for 8–16% of production costs in machining, and in Germany alone, around 790,000 tons of CF waste are generated annually (as of 2014), 90% of which is water-mixed. OUR SOLUTION We say: Cutting fluid is not a consumable. It is part of your production security. Our patent-pending airlift reactor technology continuously aerates and circulates the CF in existing tanks – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including weekends or company holidays when no one is watching. Technically, we use a physical principle that has been working reliably for over a hundred years: the airlift or mammoth pump effect. A pump – or existing plant compressed air as an alternative – feeds oxygen into a height-adjustable riser pipe in the middle of the tank. The resulting density difference between the rising air-CF mixture in the pipe and the sinking pure cutting fluid outside continuously circulates the entire tank on its own – completely without additional moving components in the fluid circuit. This makes the system particularly low-maintenance and robust, and allows it to be retrofitted into any existing system as a retrofit without machine downtime.
