Company description

1915: Founding Maschinenfabrik Berger was founded on 27.10.1915 by Ludwig Berger. The company's headquarters have always been located at Wienerstraße 35 in Knittelfeld. From the beginning to the end of the 1970s, in addition to special structures for various industries, machines were mainly produced for processing and transporting wood. 1950s: Development of two series products In the 1950s, the machine factory succeeded in developing two “real” series products: A motor-driven loom for producing reed mats and a press for pressing reeds into insulation boards. By the 1960s, these were produced in quantities of over 200 and exported to Iraq and Egypt. Spare parts for the robust and durable machines are still being manufactured today. 1980: Departure of the company founder After the death of Gustav Berger, the son of company founder Ludwig Berger, the company was taken over on 1.7.1980 by 2 Lower Austrian industrialists — Mirko Kovacs and Franz Mock. 1980: First collaborations with IBS Austria GmbH The machine factory has also been working with IBS Austria in Teufenbach since 1980. Initially, long grinding machines for ceramic drainage surfaces were developed together. As a result, components for paper machines made of stainless steel were also delivered to IBS Austria. 1993: Takeover by IBS Austria GmbH In 1993, Maschinenfabrik Berger was taken over by IBS Austria GmbH — with owners Heinz and Klaus Bartelmuss. At that time, the company had 40 employees. As a result, the production focus was consistently focused on components for the paper industry. With increasing sales, the machinery was successively renewed and expanded. At that time, a 5-axis long milling machine was already in use, which could process workpieces weighing up to 10 tons and an accuracy of 1/100 mm. Today: Modern, dynamic company with annual turnover of 20 million Today, Maschinenfabrik Berger stands for the highest quality of machine components for the paper and pulp industry — worldwide! With an annual turnover of around €20 million, the company is a modern, dynamic company that processes around 1,000 tons of stainless chrome-nickel steel annually using state-of-the-art machinery. A dedicated team, consisting of over 100 highly qualified employees, ensures smooth processes and the highest quality of execution.
