About Richard Neumayer GmbH

Who we are

Richard Neumayer GmbH is a German closed-die forging company and development partner for demanding, ready-to-install precision forged and closed-die forged steel components. At our site in Hausach in the Black Forest, Germany, 340 employees develop and manufacture complex forged components weighing 0.5 to 20 kg – from samples, prototypes and trial parts to pre-series and small batches as well as high-volume serial production. As a development partner, we support customers from the first component idea, drawing or CAD data onwards. Our capabilities include technical feasibility assessment, material consulting, component design, FEM forming simulation, design-for-forging and redesign, in-house toolmaking, hot forging and precision forging, heat treatment, CNC machining, testing and assembly. This enables us to support projects throughout the entire process – from engineering to the fully machined, ready-to-install forged component or complete assembly. Samples, prototypes, trial parts, pre-series components and small batches can be manufactured under realistic conditions on serial-production equipment. This provides customers with representative components for testing, validation, approval and subsequent industrialisation. Development projects and individual projects without subsequent serial production are also possible. A key competence is the conversion of existing components into forged solutions. We analyse cast, welded or machined components in terms of geometry, function, material, weight, material consumption and manufacturing process and, where technically and economically suitable, redesign them as forging-optimised alternatives. The objective is to create high-performance, material-efficient and economically manufacturable components. Neumayer processes a comprehensive range of steels, including carbon steels, stainless steels, case-hardening steels, quenched and tempered steels, AFP steels, structural steels, heat-resistant steels and high-alloy steels. Our capabilities range from complex conventional closed-die forgings to precision-forged, flashless and near-net-shape components. Mechanical machining includes turning, milling, drilling and deburring. Additional capabilities include heat treatment, component testing in our own measurement and materials laboratory and assembly. Our forged components and system solutions are used in automotive and e-mobility, commercial vehicles, mechanical and plant engineering, robotics and automation, measurement and control technology, off-highway and construction machinery, agricultural machinery, energy and environmental technology, defence & security and general industrial applications. Richard Neumayer is a fifth-generation family-owned company with more than 150 years of experience in steel forming. More than 31,000 tonnes of ready-to-install precision forged parts and other components are manufactured annually. Engineering and production are also focused on material and resource efficiency. Through innovation and investment, Neumayer has reduced its Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon footprint by 95% and aims to achieve climate-neutral production by 2039.
