Galvanization Galvanization is the electrochemical process of protecting metal by electrlysis (oxidation/ reduction process that occurs at the electrodes during the passage of electrical current through the electrlyte). Galvanizing assure product protection from corrosion and wearability. As a base materials for process of galvanization appropriate are: steel, stainless steel, brass, copper, aluminium or ABS plastics. In the process of galvanizing, one or more extremely thin layers of only a few µm (1/1000 mm) are deposited onto the base material in the so-called galvanic cell. The product that is going to be coated is immersed into a metal salt solution (electrolytes) and connected with the negative pole (cathode) of a direct current source. The metal that is going to be deposited also enters the conductive bath in the form of anodes (positive pole) and as salt split into ions. Under current conduction, the metal ion that is going to be deposited goes into solution and is activated by the cathode, which represents the part and deposited there as a metal coating.
