In the process of galvanizing, one or more extremely thin layers of only a few µm (1/1000 mm) are deposited onto the base material in the so-called galvanic cell. The product that is going to be coated is immersed into a metal salt solution (electrolytes) and connected with the negative pole (cathode) of a direct current source.
