Our roots go to the BBC / ABB electron tube factory in Baden, later Lenzburg, back, which sold the ABB Group in 1993 to the Thomson CSF in France. In 1994, the manufacture of electron tubes was transferred to France, only the production of the mechanical parts for electron tubes, including the associated processes, remained in Switzerland and took place in Klingnau a new location. In subsequent years, new businesses have opened up and expanded continuously in Switzerland and neighboring countries. C. Melchers & Co. was established on January 1, 1806 in Bremen, where the global company still maintains its headquarters to this very day. In the first few decades of the company’s history, over 30 ships sailed the oceans of the world under the Melchers flag, linking the ports of Europe, America and the Pacific. In the 1860s, C.
